i've JUST created what i'm sure will be a recipe to be passed along many, many future generations:
"Confused Chicken"
Ahh yes, there has been Chicken Mary-Lee, Arroz con Pollo, tater-baked chicken, Chicken Marsala, Fried Chicken, Chicken Nuggets, Chicken a la King, Chicken Wings…
But tonight, we have evolved.
in my post-grocery-shopping-Euphoria, i decided i'd take the ground chicken and vidalia onions i'd just bought, cook 'em up together, add rice and… there must be something ELSE i can use! To make it more… DARK beige!
Before i continue, i have to make it clear and put it on the table: I have an addiction to onions. In so so many ways.
French Onion Soup.
In my delight at onion to anything-else ratio being so high, i failed to recognize that French Onion Soup sits in BEEF stock. Not chicken. Not chicken at ALL.
This occurred to me as i emptied the french onion soup into the happily popping pan of chicken & vidalia onions. The rice just bubbled away, not mentioning anything.
Now, i consider myself a pretty smart person. I'm constantly keeping educated on politics, history, current situations in the world… I'm reading smart, insightful books, i'm considering life on a regular basis, pondering clever ideas and profound epiphanies (which Joanna calls "Realizing the bloody obvious")…
But sometimes i just don't think.
So i've tried a few bites of Confused Chicken, but it's much too hot to taste. So it's on the couch, cooling, while i write. The sox are down 6-0 to Cleveland, the laundry's almost done, and i've had a really great day so far. Hope the Confused Chicken's as good as i don't think it'll be. (ponder THAT!)
