i have been married to building my website for the last week or so, and it’s turned into a really interesting experience. Not only going through the two years of photos to pluck the best ones, but to really see how far i’ve come in my technical ability. Also, holy HELL, i’ve been to a lot of places and met a lot of people!

i can’t wait to see where i’ll go. I know i’m going somewhere with this – what would be amazing is if some news agency (Newsweek, Time, Reuters, AP, etc) sent me around the world to photograph whatever. Of course i love photographing kids, but i would get restless to only have one genre to photograph – which is why a news agency would be best. The state of our newspaper industry is scary, though. The Hartford Courant just laid off another 100 jobs (thankfully, the few remaining employed photographers that i am friends with are still there, except one who took a buyout), so that will make the freelance market even more competitive and interesting. I’m up for the challenge, though. :)

Wedding offers (photography, certainly not proposals) have been coming in totally on their own – i have five this year so far, with zero advertising! My plan in the next two years is to drop down to part-time in my retail job (who knew that losing hours at work would be seen as a success?) because i’ll have too much photography to do. Then, eventually, jump ship, because someone is flying me to Mongolia to shoot something. Sounds like a plan.

I’ll send out an announcement when my site is up and running… now, time for breakfast.
